Alexa has completed one year in Hindi, so the company hopes that it will be made available in many more local languages in the coming time. Currently, Alexa is present in two languages, Hindi and English.
Cleo is a language learning skill in which customers can train Alexa by answering them in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati and other languages.
Puneesh Kumar, Country Leader for Alexa, Amazon India talks in details about the journey of Alexa in Hindi in a blog post.
The more customers use Cleo Skill, the more the company will work on Alexa’s language recognition and it’s Natural Language Processing (NLP) to prepare its Smart Assistant to speak in other languages to its other devices. So it is effective in other third-party devices as well.
Indian users are experimenting very differently with Amazon Alexa. Recently viral,” Rasode Mein Kon Tha” is being asked to Alexa. Alexa answered but does not know that “Rashi ben ne cooker me se chane kyu nikaale.”
